Sunita S. Bandewar

Dr. Bandewar is a Senior Research Fellow on the Ethical, Social, and Cultural Program for Grand Challenges in Global Health Initiative, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Research Coordinator for the Community Engagement Global Case Study Research. This research involves empirical research at about 10 different sites around the world to study ‘good practices’ in community engagement in the context of clinical research and public health interventions. Dr. Bandewar has a MSc and PhD in Anthropology from the University of Pune, India and a Bioethics MHSc – Bioethics from the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics. Some of her core areas of work include Gender, women and health, social science research ethics, ethics review system and counseling ethics. Dr. Bandewar’s core activities have been research and advocacy in health in India. She is member of the International Research Ethics Board, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF).
