Fiona Thomas

Fiona Thomas is a Research Analyst at the McLaughlin-Rotman Centre for Global Health, on the Ethical, Social, Cultural, and Commercialization Program for Water-Efficient Maize for Africa (WEMA).

Fiona joined the MRC in 2007 following the completion of a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and International Studies from the University of Toronto. She joined first, as a Summer Student and then as a Research Analyst. Her initial work with the MRC was as Coordinator of the Grand Challenges for Global Health Working Groups before joining the WEMA project.

Prior to joining the MRC, Fiona worked with a non-profit organisation where she worked with immigrant communities and evaluated the language instruction programme for newcomers (LINC) in that area. She has also worked with the Canadian International Development Agency in the area of policy analysis and bilateral programming, specifically with the Mozambique programme. Currently, Fiona is completing her MSc at the London School of Economics in Health, Community and Development, with a specific focus on the social determinants of mental health.
